A Message from Your H.S.A. President
This past Friday, I had the honor and privilege of joining our teachers and staff for their “Catholic Schools Week” Thank You Luncheon given by the HSA. If I didn’t know it already, there’s no doubt in my mind that we at SMS have the most dedicated, hard working, genuinely caring people guiding our child/ren every single day. This wonderful team nurtures our precious gifts daily with a smile on their faces and open arms no matter how challenging the day may be. There are not enough ways we can express our unending gratitude to each and every one of them but we will keep trying!
A big thank you to Jeff Cellio for leading the 7th Annual Corn Toss event. I’d also like to thank Della Roses’s Tavern for providing a delicious dinner. There were a good number of SMS teachers in attendance and they have quite a fun and competitive spirit! We would like to see more SMS families join us at this event next year. I am open to hearing your ideas on what you’d like at this event – please send me an email at email@example.com.
Another thank you goes out to our newly formed Hospitality Team! The members of this team provided baked goods for our Open House and Teacher Luncheon! The homemade baked goods were such a wonderful treat for our future families and our hardworking teachers! If you would like to join this team, please email me. When we have a need for something extra yummy, we reach out to the team and ask for 1-2 dozen baked goods, purchased drinks, or anything else that may be needed. You do not need to participate in every event – the more at home cooks we have, the less each person has to do!
As previously communicated, March 26th is the HSA Open Meeting. Steve Morrill and Anthony Bradley ’19 from Loyola High School will be covering the social media platforms that Generation Z is using and their implications – both positive and questionable. This is a great opportunity for parents to have an interactive discussion on how they see social media being used and ask as many questions as they can come up with. We also will have a social time for parents to enjoy each other’s company and learn more about the events the HSA sponsors. This is also a time where you can bring forward new ideas and suggestions to make the HSA an even stronger organization. And the best part for the students is they receive an out of uniform day if you attend! Out of uniform passes will be handed out at the end of the meeting.
On April 13th, the “Father/Daughter Enchanted Garden Dance” will take place in the ES gym from 6 to 8:30pm. We hope all girls and their special Father Figure will be able to join us. If you would like to volunteer at this social event, please contact Colleen Grayson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please save May 13th for the Annual Golf Outing to be held at Mountain Branch Golf Course. Stay tuned for more information! If you can assist with this event, please contact me at the below email address.
We are always in need of volunteers to support our events. Please take a moment and consider how you can help our events to continue. Immediate needs are for the treasured Fall Festival. The 2019 Festival is the last one our current chair person will be leading. We want to ensure a successful transition by having a person or team of people shadow the current chairperson and her committee. Please let me know if you are interested in discussing this opportunity or if you have a suggestion for someone who may be interested.
One last item for this month – we will be sending out a year-end survey to assist in planning events for next year. I strongly encourage you to complete the survey and share your candid thoughts and recommendations on what you would like from your HSA. The members of the HSA, our event chair people, and our volunteers are dedicated to ensuring our families and students are engaged in the SMS community. I, personally, want to thank each of them for everything they do on a regular basis to make each event special!
Thank you for your continued support and I look forward to seeing you at our General Meeting!
