As we move further into the school year, the forecast inevitably begins to include the possibility of snow, ice, and wintry weather. At our school, the safety of our students, families, and staff is always our highest priority. To ensure clarity and a unified approach, we want to remind everyone of our official inclement weather policy.
This policy, guided by the Department of Catholic Schools for the Archdiocese, is designed for simplicity and alignment with our local community.
Our Guiding Principle: Follow Harford County Public Schools (HCPS)
In the event of severe weather, our school will follow the operational decisions made by Harford County Public Schools. As our county jurisdiction, their assessments of road conditions and regional safety determine our actions. This provides a consistent standard for our entire community.
Here’s what this means for you:
-
If HCPS is CLOSED → Our school is CLOSED.
-
If HCPS has a DELAYED OPENING → Our school will open with the same delay.
-
If HCPS announces an EARLY DISMISSAL → Our school will also dismiss early.
Important Note for EDC Families: Our Extended Day Care (EDC) Program will follow the same determinations. If HCPS cancels all afternoon and evening activities, our EDC will also be canceled for that day.
How to Stay Informed
To ensure you receive the most timely information, we encourage all families to monitor these key sources:
-
Harford County Public Schools Announcements: This is the primary source for the initial decision.
-
School Communications: Watch for follow-up confirmations via our SMS alerts, email, and official school website.
-
Local Media: We will also report our status to outlets like WBAL-TV.
-
Social Media: Updates will be posted on our official school social media channels.
Our Shared Commitment to Safety
We understand that schedule changes can be challenging for families, and we sincerely appreciate your flexibility and cooperation. By following this coordinated policy, we work together to make safety the consistent and non-negotiable standard for every member of our school community.
Stay safe and warm, and let’s hope for more sunny days ahead!
For the latest updates, always check your messages and our school’s communication channels first.
